KEEP facilitator training

Training is currently delivered by KEEP consultants from Oregon and the UK over five consecutive days. The training includes information about the development of KEEP as a foster carer training programme and its aim of improving skills and supporting placement stability. It includes information about the underpinning theory, theory of change and the evaluations of effectiveness (RCT's).

Training then concentrates on the participants becoming familiar with the KEEP training manual. This includes practising the delivery of sessions as a facilitator and co-facilitator with other group members role playing foster/kinship carers.   Feedback is given in the moment and post session by the trainers. This is always supportive and enables trainees to develop and fine tune their skills in this model.

Once trained the facilitators receive weekly supervision and consultation on each group session which is recorded, uploaded to a secure website and viewed by the supervisor and consultant. This provides on-going support and training in running the programme. Facilitators receive weekly consultation until they are fully accredited.  Lead facilitators may apply for accreditation after leading three KEEP groups and Co-facilitators after co-leading three and leading a fourth.
