Call for evidence and stakeholder events

The Department of Health and Department for Education have established an Expert Working Group – supported by the Social Care Institute for Excellence - to develop models of care and care pathways to support the mental health and wellbeing of looked after children and care leavers.

You are invited to submit evidence and/or register for a stakeholder event.

Call for evidence

We are looking for examples of effective practice relating to models of care and care pathways, supported by evaluation data and/or experts-by-experience feedback.  You are invited to submit evidence.

We are interested in practice examples from across the spectrum of need. Please find attached the form for completing the call for evidence which should be returned to [email protected]

The closing date is 20 January 2017

We anticipate a high volume of responses so will be unable to respond to individual submissions, but will publish our initial findings after they have been considered by the Expert Working Group in April 2017.

Stakeholder events

We are holding two stakeholder events for you comment on the recommendations developed by the expert group and advise on how to engage with different sectors.

Professionals’ stakeholder event – 13 March 2017, London

You can register your interest now, but please note that in order to ensure there is a full representation across the sectors we will not be confirming attendance for the professionals’ event until 7 February 2017. We are particularly eager to ensure that those delivering frontline services and/or providing care directly to children and young people are given priority.

Register your interest in the professionals’ stakeholder event

Children and young people’s event – 11 April 2017, London

With our team of experienced practitioners we will be supporting children and young people to share their views and have their voice heard on mental health and emotional wellbeing. This event is open to children in foster care, children’s homes, SGO’s, private and kinship fostering, adopted homes, recently returned home from care and care leavers.  SCIE have a rich history in co-production and the day will be delivered in partnership with our care leavers who have been contributing to the project throughout the year.

Once again, many thanks for your interest in this work. For further information on this project, please visit the Looked after children: mental health and wellbeing section of the SCIE website.
